Major depressive disorder:
Major depressive disorder, sometimes referred to as major depression or
clinical depression or unipolar depression, even the most serious type
of depression, the number of its symptoms and their severity.
Significant individual differences are there, but many of them are very
common. Symptoms of major depressive episode last most of the day
repeated every day for at least two weeks. It deals with a depressed
mood or significant reduction of interest or pleasure in all or most
activities. Additional symptoms may include significant weight loss /
gain or increase / decrease in appetite, sleep problems, changes in
movement associated with mental stress, fatigue or loss of energy,
feeling worthless for any reason, difficulties in making decision by a
lack of concentration and thinking. Extreme situation can be repeated
thoughts about death or suicide or planning for it. If a person is
observed in most of these symptoms for more than two-week period, they
can be diagnosed with major depressive disorder.
Dysthymic disorder:
Dysthymic disorder is also known as simply dysthymia. Dysthymia
(pronounced Dis-hip-me-uh) comes from Greek roots dys, meaning "sick" or
"bad" and thymia, which means "mind" or "emotion." Dysthymic disorder
is low to moderate level of depression that lasts at least two years and
often longer. Its symptoms are less severe than major depression, but
because of their durability and resistant to treatment seems to matter.
Dysthymic patients often develop severe depression at some point during
their depression.
Manic Depression:
Manic depression, also known as Bipoler disorder includes periods
of depression and mania. These two countries each cycle more quickly, or
a state (mania) may be no depressive episodes. (In case if youd do not
know about MANIA Mania is a medical condition in which patients suffer
severely elevated mood throughout. It is usually associated with mood
changes when the patient goes through an extremely elevated mood or
happy at the same time at other times you may feel depressed). Manic
episodes may consist of constantly elevated or irritable mood, which is
very level and can continue to be at least equivalent to one week. This
depression is dealing with high and low mood that alongwith other
significant symptoms not present in other depressions.
Depression after delivery:
Depression after the birth occurs after the baby. Depressive symptoms
usually begin within four weeks of birth and is variable in length and
severety. The cycle of pregnancy brings many harmonal changes or changes
in body wormen. Mood is severly affected by these dramatic and rapid
changes. This is known as "baby blues." Postpartum depression may be
more than just a case of the blues, however. It can vary from mild
symptoms that disappear without treatment all the way to postpartum
psychosis, which is not treated, may be responsible for the tragic
murders of children.
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD):
Depressive disorder type, which is symbolized by episodes of severe
depression at certain times of the year. It can be any winter or fall,
it does not matter. So, if someone experiences depression, lethargy,
weight gain and cravings for carbohydrates during the winter months, but
feel better as soon as spring returns, then one can be diagonized of
depression called seasonal affective disorder (SAD ).
Anxiety Depression:
This is fundamentally different from depression and some addition
to depression. In this case, the individual also shows signs of anxiety
along with depression symptoms. Depression plus Anxiety creates another
category of depression, simply defined as anxiety depression.
Atypical depression:
Atypical depression is slightly different from major depression and
various mood swings do react to positive developments in the vicinity.
People who suffer atypical depression believe that outside events
control their mood. It can boast, attention or success. This depression
can last a long time or forever, so it can be said is also a type of
dysthymia. Symptoms of atypical depression, fatigue, uspivaneto,
overeating and weight gain.
Chronic depression:
It is basically a case of severe depression when symptoms appear consistently at least two years.
Double depression:
If a person has severe depression episode with dysthymia, then these two
depressions him / her in the category of double depression.
Endogenous depression:
This is a special type of depression, because in the form of
depression for no apparent symptoms. As something that comes from inside
the body and this is why the name Das endogenous depression.
Situation or reactive depression:
Situation or reactive depression is a major adjustment disorder with
depressed mood. Some specific situation or event is presented for major
depressive victims. But technically not a severe depression because it
is only a temporary response to an event or situation. It can be removed
very soon after that event or situation becomes obsolete or loses its
affect. For example, if someone loses his / her job, then a temporary
depression would come over to him / her as soon buat as the work is
again this depression is no longer there, so can not fall into the
category of major depressive disorder and thus enter into the situation
or category of reactive depression.
Agitated depression:
Type of major depressive disorder, characterized by excitement as
physical and emotional anxiety, irritability and insomnia, which is the
opposite of many depressed individuals who have low energy and feel
physically and mentally slow.
Psychotic Depression:
This kind of depression when the patient shows symptoms that are
psychotic in nature. Symptoms are fake and unbelievable. If an
individual is hearing a strange voice and false believes that then
associated with depression may be called as Psychotic.
Melancholic depression:
Melancholic depression is a severe type of depression. The individual
may lose pleasure in each routine and slowly in response to temporary
positive developments in the vicinity.
Catatonic depression:
It is also a type of severe depression and is identified by excessive
movement (purposeless), high resistance to instructions / suggestions,
loss of voluntary movement and inability to react to the environment and
inadequate voluntary movements and involuntary repetition of words of
someone meaninglessly.
